Meet the hosts

Meet the duo behind the holiday cottage Lakeside by R. Hello, we are Maurice and Monique.

Maurice (49) is the owner of the estate and has been lovingly involved in its renovation and maintenance for many years. Thanks to his eye for detail and craftsmanship, the cottage has been completely renewed and is kept in excellent condition. From the interior to the garden and the recently renovated boathouse. Should anything not work properly during your stay, Maurice will make sure it is resolved quickly.

Monique (44) is a close friend of Maurice and your main point of contact. She manages the bookings and ensures that your stay runs smoothly. Do you have any questions, are you missing something, or would you like to share a request? Monique is always happy to help.

Wondering where the name Lakeside by R comes from? The “R” stands for five things that perfectly match our location and our story:

Reeuwijk – the beautiful place where our cottage is located
Relax – unwinding and slowing down is what it’s all about here
Recharge – restore your energy in nature and by the water
Remember – create memories that will stay with you
Roots – deeply rooted in our family history

The holiday cottage of Lakeside by R has a special history (Lakeside by R – Roots).

Maurice shares:

“It once belonged to our grandparents. As children, we practically grew up here, spending countless weekends and holidays at the Reeuwijkse Plassen. The whole family would come together here: parents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. We spent hours playing, boating, and enjoying life outdoors.”

Although our grandparents and parents are no longer with us, the memories live on. For us, this cottage is a place filled with warmth, connection, and beautiful moments.

Stay with us

A few years ago, we decided to breathe new life into the cottage. We completely stripped it back and rebuilt it step by step. Everything has been renovated, from the inside out, including the beautiful garden. As a final touch, we transformed the boathouse into a cosy sleeping space with its own toilet.

The project is now almost complete, and the cottage has opened its doors to guests who, just like us, can enjoy this special place.

Lakeside by R is suitable for up to four guests. In good weather, it is also possible to set up a small tent in the spacious garden.
